On Tuesday, September 10, the San Diego Unified School Board voted unanimously for a resolution to support the Global Climate Walkout and direct principals to allow students to organize and participate in walkouts at their school. Students rallied ahead of time.
This past Sunday student leaders met with School Board member Richard Barrera and San Diego Unified School District superintendent Cindy Marten to discuss plans and resolution for September 20th school strikes. We are so grateful to have their support for the walkouts and we look forward to working with her in the future! 💚🌎💯
On Tuesday, September 10th, the School Board will vote on a resolution to support the walkouts and give guidance to all the SDUSD schools to support student leadership around the walkouts.
We need to pack the room to show support. Be there!
When: Sept 10 at 5 pm
Where: San Diego Unified School District, 4100 Normal St., San Diego 92103
In April, I led a student walkout at my high school, Del Lago Academy, and this summer I organized a Youth Climate Action Summit for high school students. Because we can’t wait any longer to treat climate change for what is truly is – an urgent crisis that needs our attention NOW.
On September 20th, students all over San Diego will walk out of their schools to demand bold climate action as part of the global day of action, and we need everyone to join us! Will you walk out and stand with students to demand bold climate action?
Whether you’re a student, teacher, parent — or anyone who wants to support climate action, we need your help to make these events powerful and game changing, so sign up and indicate on the RSVP form if you can help with planning and promotion, and make a donation to support the walkout if you can.
See you in the streets!
